Lasana Mack – Founder
Mr. Mack was the Founder, Board Chairman and Executive Director of APPEAL Inc. Mr. Mack was an experienced senior executive and finance professional. For seven years (2005-2012), he was Treasurer of the District of Columbia (D.C. Treasurer), a position that entailed managing billions of dollars, managing many employees and contracted professionals, and managing numerous business functions. These functions included cash management, payment operations, investments, debt management, bond issuances to finance infrastructure development, accounting, and budgeting, among numerous other senior-level management responsibilities. He was also Deputy Chief Financial Officer of the District of Columbia (Washington, DC), and served in several other financial management positions over the course of his 27-year professional career. In addition, he was the founder, director and an artist with a music ensemble, BlackNotes, known for producing progressive and quality music with a dynamic blend of several cultural arts elements emanating from African and African American heritage. He had a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Howard University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Rochester, majoring in Finance.
